Cardiac Research

EMMC NECA Cardiac Research conduct research in collaboration with several national research groups. These include the TIMI Study Group at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts; The Harvard Clinical Research Institute (now known as Baim Clinical Research Institute) also in Boston; and New England Research Institute and Duke Clinical Research Institute.

The research team is headed by Alan Wiseman, MD, FACC, FSCAI, and is supported by his associates at EMMC Northeast Cardiology Associates. The team is made up of eight members, including a manager/RN, lead research nurse, three nurse coordinators, a medical assistant, an office/regulatory coordinator and a secretary/research assistant.

Dr. Wiseman and his team assess each patient for eligibility for participation in a trial. Cardiac patients who are potentially eligible must meet specific requirements depending on the trial.

Some of the current clinical research trials conducted at EMMC are focusing on coronary stents, electrophysiology, devices, novel medications to treat coronary disease, hyperlipidemia, obesity, congestive heart failure, and more. For a complete list of trials, visit our Current Trial tab on the right hand side of the page, and for more details on each trial, visit clinicaltrials.gov.
