Pathfinders Spring 2008 Facilitator Training & Session News

Pathfinders’ ten week spring 2008 session will commence Monday, March 3 and conclude Monday, May 12, 2008.  The weekly sessions will meet at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex Street, 6 - 7:30 pm. Pathfinders will not meet on Monday, April 21, due to April vacation.

Facilitators are desperately needed for all three adult groups: spouse, child and general loss.  The adult spouse group provides support for adults whose spouses have died; the adult general group offers support for adults who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, ex-spouse or other significant loved one that was not a spouse and the child loss group is for parents, grandparents or any relative who has experienced the death of a child.

The role of the volunteer facilitator is to provide a safe, trusting, nurturing environment for her/his group. Each facilitator is expected to commit to three hours of service (5:30 - 8:30 p.m.) every Monday that Pathfinders meets. Each facilitator is also asked to communicate and plan with her/his co-facilitator between weekly sessions. Facilitators meet with other facilitators, Linda, and program consultant, Vicki Trundy, LCSW, at the end of each weekly session to process their experiences.

No special counseling skills are required to become a Pathfinders facilitator, but individuals interested in facilitating must complete the training program..

If you are interested in becoming an adult Pathfinders group facilitator, please call Linda at 973-8269.

If you know of any child who is grieving the death of a parent or close loved one, please inform the child’s guardian about Pathfinders. Encourage the guardian to call Linda for more information about this successful, time-tested bereavement program for children.
