For the fifth year in a row, Eastern Maine Medical Center has been named an Overall Best Performer for exemplary service by Avatar International, Inc. EMMC is the only hospital of its size in the nation that has earned this distinction for five consecutive years. The award is based on EMMC's patient satisfaction surveys completed in 2007 for inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, and emergency care. 

In addition to being recognized as an Overall Best Performer, EMMC was also recognized with the award for Five Star Service for Inpatient Care, and was the highest scoring hospital of its size for inpatient care. Again, EMMC was the only hospital of its size to win this award for five years in a row.
