  • Eastern Maine Medical Center receives American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines Bronze Qu 11/17/2011

    BANGOR, OCTOBER 2011— EMMC has received the  Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Bronze Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association . The recognition signifies that EMMC has reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure patients for at least 90 days with 85 percent compliance to core standard levels of care outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.

  • Universal Waste Recycling Day 10/04/2011

    (Bangor, ME) – Eastern Maine Medical Center is again encouraging its employees to think green. On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, EMMC is holding another universal waste recycling day. EMMC employees are encouraged to stop by the Wing Parking Lot from 10 am – 2 pm and drop off their unwanted televisions, computers, printers, and monitors for recycling. E-Waste Recycling will park a truck in the Wing Lot and take employee’s unwanted items for free.

  • EMMC, Nurses Union Reach Agreement 05/04/2011

    Bangor, ME – Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses United notified Eastern Maine Medical Center tonight that its membership has voted to ratify the one-year contract tentatively agreed upon at the April 28 bargaining session. The tentative agreement will be presented to EMMC’s Board of Trustees Wednesday, May 4 with recommendation from the bargaining team for approval.

  • EMMC and Nurses' Union Reach One Year Agreement 04/28/2011

    (Bangor, ME) - Eastern Maine Medical Center reached a tentative one-year contract agreement with the union representing its nurses, the Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses United, on Thursday evening. The union has withdrawn its notice to strike on May 5. EMMC will halt preparations for a five day replacement of striking nurses that would have kept EMMC nurses out of work until Tuesday, May 10.

    Bangor, ME—The call came in just after midnight from The Aroostook Medical Center. A skiing accident had caused craniofacial injuries in a young patient. Such injuries usually involve a referral to a maxillofacial surgeon in Bangor, and the physician on the scene wanted a consultation with a trauma surgeon. With this call, a first-of-its-kind pilot program at Eastern Maine Medical Center using hand-held devices for teletrauma got its first real-time application.
