EMMC Physician Agrees to Sanctions from the Board of Medical Licensure
9/14/2012

Bangor, ME – A physician working at EMMC’s Husson Family Medicine practice has agreed to sanctions from the Board of Medical Licensure, contained in a consent agreement, for improperly prescribing drugs to patients complaining of chronic pain.

The physician has been in the community for 23 years. He is competent, caring, and well respected by his colleagues and patients. By signing the consent agreement, he has taken responsibility for improper prescribing practices and accepted the consequences of his mistake. He continues to see patients at Husson Family Medicine where he has been working under the provisions of the consent agreement since July, and has taken educational classes to enhance his knowledge of treating patients with chronic pain.

EMMC believes in using incidents such as this to look for ways to enhance our process and ensure we’re following the protocols put in place to protect patient safety.

EMMC Husson Family Medicine patients who have additional questions or concerns about their care are encouraged to contact office manager, Dawn Shain, at 941-2373 or James Raczek, MD, FAAFP, senior vice president of operations and chief medical officer at 973-7026.
