Healthcare Charities Earns the Better Business Bureau Seal of Approval

06/29/2009

EMHS Healthcare Charities, which oversees EMMC Healthcare Charities, has earned the Better Business Bureau Charity Seal of Approval - becoming one of only nine non-profits in the state of Maine to earn this honor. Proving that Healthcare Charities was worthy of the seal of approval was a demanding process, involving rigorous scrutiny of our governance, effectiveness, finances, solicitations, and informational materials. The twenty standards set by the Better Business Bureau go above and beyond what government regulators require.

Michael Crowley, president of EMHS Healthcare Charities, says he is proud that Healthcare Charities demands such high standards. “The Better Business Bureau seal of approval is one more way to demonstrate that we’re serious about what we do. Our mission is to ensure that each gift we receive makes a difference in the lives of our patients, friends and family, and that we are accountable for each and every dollar entrusted to us.”

Only organizations that come through a review with a grade of meets standards are eligible to participate in the seal program. Crowley says surpassing the required twenty standards was a way of demonstrating Healthcare Charities’ commitment to accountability and ethical practices, “Our commitment to excellent service is all the more rewarding when verified by the highly respected Better Business Bureau.”
