Occupational Health

In July 2010, Cutler Health Center expanded services to include Occupational Health services for the University of Maine. Cutler Health Center provides a comprehensive list of examinations designed to help maintain the health and safety of University of Maine employees.

Prior to employment you may be required to complete a pre-employment physical. The pre-employment physical requirements will be determined by your job description. Your physical includes a comprehensive medical history that includes previous injury/illness and pre-existing conditions, a lifting assessment, vision testing, vital signs including height and weight and a focused physical exam based on essential physical functions of a particular job. 

Additional services may be included:
  • Audiogram
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Respirator clearance evaluation - Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire
  • PPD testing
  • Hepatitis B vaccination
  • Baseline metal testing (lead, cooper)
  • Baseline insecticide panel testing
  • Other individualized components based on the needs of the employers
Some departments require annual medical evaluation as part of Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. Cutler Health Center will oversee annual medical needs related to your employment.
