  • Last year nearly 421 volunteers donated over 30,000 hours of service to patients of Eastern Maine Medical Center.
  • ROSSCARE's TELECARE volunteers made over 39,000 contacts with local shut-in and alone adults last year. These contacts are given 365 days a year at no cost to the participants.
  • Our oldest EMMC volunteer is 94 years young and still comes in 2 mornings a week to deliver the patient mail.
  • We have seen three volunteer marriages! We call it altruistic love!
  • EMMC has three volunteers with over 40 continuous years of volunteer service and 18 volunteers with over 20 years of continuous service.
  • Volunteer benefits are many, to include: holiday celebration, free flu shots, discounts, free parking and an opportunity to make friends while helping others!
  • The Volunteer Office, overlooking the relaxing Penobscot River, hosts volunteers for special projects, completing "One-A-Day" through the course of the year!
  • There are more than 15 husband and wife volunteer teams volunteering both together and in separate areas throughout the hospital!
  • Volunteers come in on a regular basis traveling from a radius of 100 miles!
  • One volunteer alone walks over 600 miles a year to volunteer. Rain, shine, snow or blustery we see him here to help!
  • Special volunteer updates provide volunteers the opportunity to come together and learn the inside scoop of what is going on now and into the future.
