EMMC Ranked Among the Best in Nation for Patient Satisfaction

Avatar Overall Best Performer Award(Bangor, ME) – EMMC is proud to announce that it has, for the seventh year in a row, been named an Overall Best Performer for its exemplary service by Avatar International, Inc. The award is based on EMMC’s patient satisfaction surveys in 2009 for inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, and emergency care. EMMC is the only hospital in the nation to earn this distinction seven years in a row.

The Overall Best Performer award is presented to the top five percent of  hospitals in the nation that measure patient satisfaction using Avatar throughout the year. In making the announcement, Avatar International CEO David Medvedeff, PharmD, MBA says, “To consistently deliver exemplary quality service for all patients throughout an organization is not an easy task. As a winner of Avatar’s Overall Best Performer Award, our partners have demonstrated an ability to achieve that consistency and maintain high levels of patient satisfaction. I congratulate each of our partners and commend their commitment to service excellence.”

EMMC president and CEO, Deborah Carey Johnson, RN, attributes the recognition to the hard work and commitment of EMMC’s employees. “Each day, our employees strive to deliver EMMC’s mission to care for patients, families, communities, and one another. The Overall Best Performer award is a clear indication we’re consistently exceeding our patient’s expectations.”

Each year, hospitals across the nation survey a random sample of patients after discharge. Patients are asked their opinions regarding the care they received, billing, safety, ancillary services, and their expectations before coming to the medical center. Their responses to these surveys are used to determine the Overall Best Performer recipients.

EMMC delivers exceptional care that inspires confidence from patients, and their families, and respect from our peers. As a member of EMHS, we readily share best practices with others with the intent of improving quality care.
