2016 Annual Meeting
The EMMC Auxiliary’s 123rd Annual Meeting was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor with President Jan Currier presiding.  After welcoming all members and guests, Jan recapped the Auxiliary’s current fundraising accomplishments for the past year, and highlighted our upcoming special events including the Winter Beach Ball and the Kitchen Tour.

The meeting’s special guest speakers were Dr. Jay Kerecman, Medical Director of EMMC Neonatal Transport, Lisa Barnett, RN, also of EMMC Neonatal Transport, and Carl Zenk, a paramedic from Life Flight.  The speakers preSpeakerssented “Neonatal Transport at EMMC: The Science and the Art,” highlighting the three modes of transport (ambulance, helicopter, and fixed wing air craft) for those critically injured, but not in the immediate Bangor area.  The team discussed new technology recently acquired for use with pediatric patients, as well as the importance of on-going training in their line of work, as well at the various locations they travel to serve patients

Husson University nursing scholarships were awarded to four nursing students.  Education co-chairs,Valerie Patch and Suzette Vernon presented the scholarship recipients with $1,000 awards and read the students’ advisors’ letters of recommendation.

Jan recognized outgoing board members Betsy Simpson, Ginger Ward-Green, and Paula Ballesteros for their many years of service to the Auxiliary.

Our fundraising efforts were showcased with two check presentations.  The first check totaling $15,016 was presented to Wendy Lux and Kelly Pearson of the EMMC Foundation from the Auxiliary’s Pediatric Endowment to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, as well as our other pediatric projects and pledge to the Remarkable Begins With You campaign. Wendy recognized the Auxiliary’s long-standing impact for the EMMC Foundation, and the importance of our work within the community. 

Big-check-for-web.jpgThe second check totaling $101,766 was presented to Helen McKinnon, Vice President for Support Services at EMMC who accepted the donation on behalf of EMMC for the Remarkable Begins With You campaign.  Helen acknowledged the Auxiliary’s important efforts for fundraising and the significance of our gift to the Medical Center and specifically the NICU and women’s and children’s services at the Medical Center. This gift brings the Auxiliary’s total lifetime giving to $3,150,357!

Jan closed the meeting with dates for upcoming special events, as well as opportunities for member involvement including lunch and learn opportunities, Christmas caroling, among other options.
