Cub Tracks Youth Triathlon Registration Closes Soon


As autumn routines of school and extra-curricular activities, fall back into place, another new “tradition” is fast approaching.  The Second Annual Cub Tracks Youth Triathlon will be held at noon on September 26, at the University of Maine campus in Orono. The registration fee is $20.
As he did last year, Olympic Gold Medalist and Maine native, Ian Crocker will be on hand to start the event, and to greet the runners as they cross the finish line. The big difference this year is that there will be no registration on race day. Parents and participants are encouraged to sign up now! There is a limited field, and space is going fast!
This exciting event is open to boys and girls ages 7-13; there will be age divisions:  7-9 years old and 10-13 years old. The event consists of swimming, biking and running. All participants will receive the official Cub Tracks T-shirt and a medal. The first three boys and girls in each age group will receive trophies. Of additional interest is a special evening program on Friday, September 24th,  entitled, “Raising A Champion: Parenting for Success.”  During this program, Ian’s parents, Richard and Gayle Crocker will talk about their experiences and challenges of raising an Olympic Champion while sustaining and supporting him as a well rounded, happy individual. Ian will also talk about his own experience of the pressure of becoming a champion while maintaining his own identity and values.
