EMMC Staff Members Wear Red to Raise Awareness of Heart Disease

(Bangor, Maine) – Heart disease is the number one cause of death among men and women in the United States. Today not only marks the beginning of National Heart Month, but it is also Wear Red Day, a national initiative to raise awareness of heart disease in women.

As part of the initiative, staff from EMMC Heart Center have come together to hold an informational event from 10 am to 2 pm today on the second floor of the hospital, where they will distribute pamphlets, magnets, and a number of other items to visitors and fellow staff members to increase awareness of heart disease and inform the community on the best ways to prevent it.

“This is a wonderful event that we’ve been doing for a few years now,” says Deborah Richards, RN, BS, Heart Center and Critical Care administrator. “It gets this important information out to the community that could save someone’s life.”
