Free EMMC Hip and Knee Pain Event to Explore Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Bangor, Maine – With winter fully behind us, many people are beginning to get out in the garden, go for a walk or a hike, and spend time outside enjoying the warmer weather. For those who suffer from hip or knee pain, the arrival of spring may be a reminder that they are no longer able to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities. In recognition of the change in season, EMMC is holding a free hip and knee pain seminar on May 22 at the Spectacular Event Center to provide helpful information and answer questions about joint pain.

“Hip and knee pain can limit a person’s everyday activities,” says Angela Wheelden, RN, BSN, ONC, nurse coordinator, EMMC Joint Care. “Thankfully, there are treatment options, and many don’t involve surgery. We’ll focus on symptoms, diagnosis, and both nonsurgical and surgical treatment possibilities at this event.”

The event will cover pain management, physical therapy, preparing for joint surgery, and more. After the presentation, participants will be able to meet one-on-one with EMMC experts from several different departments to get their questions answered.

“The question and answer portion of the event will resemble a mini health fair where people can ask specific questions about the topics that interest them most,” adds Wheelden. “It’s a new concept we haven’t tried before at our joint pain seminars, and we think that those who attend will find it to be quite valuable.”

A complimentary dinner will be served at 5:30 pm, followed by a presentation and the question and answer portion of the event. Registration is required by calling 973-5259 or visiting
