Upcoming Community Seminar Addresses Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is a common medical problem, but according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, there is good news for people who suffer with this malady: 90 percent of patients who seek help for shoulder pain find relief with simple treatment methods. The causes, diagnosis, and treatment of shoulder pain are the focus of a free seminar offered by EMMC on Wednesday, March 26.

“This seminar will be helpful for anyone who is experiencing shoulder soreness, weakness, stiffness, pain while sleeping, limited range of motion, or other types of shoulder pain,” says Jessica Aronowitz, MD, a shoulder specialist at EMMC Orthopedic Surgical Specialists. “We’ll discuss the various causes of shoulder pain and talk about non-surgical and surgical treatment options.”

In addition to Dr. Aronowitz, a physical therapist, family nurse practitioner, and staff from EMMC Orthopedic Surgical Specialists will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

“I have found that many people decide to live with the pain because they believe that nothing can be done or that all of the available treatment options are invasive,” adds Dr. Aronowitz. “People may be surprised to find out that there are several different ways we can help. This seminar will explore all of the possibilities.”

The free shoulder pain seminar will begin with dinner at 6 pm followed by a presentation and question and answer session at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor. Registration is required by visiting orthopedics.emmc.org or by calling 973-9980.
